Development of the Country
Environment problems have caused not only degradation of living
conditions but also loss of economic benefit of all nations
around the world. And we are all aware that preventing natural
and urban environmental problems is better than fixing them
later. Environmental protection and management are not always
easy tasks for all countries and Vietnam is not an exception. In
Vietnam, Doi Moi has created a huge opportunity for the high
rate economic growth but also threats to the environment, as a
result, damages to sustainable development of the country.
Vietnam is calling for (i) a better regulatory framework for
environmental management, (ii) stronger environmental planning
capacity, (iii) stronger environmental monitoring, (iv) more
public financing for environmental management and protection,
and (v) application of the polluter-pays principle throughout
the country.
